Guides
We are a small company with two guides. Our emphasis is always on safety and a professional operation. Our guides have CPR and First Aid certifications and extensive kayaking and fishing experience all over the United States.
Dan Hodkinson
Dan lives in Washington County, MD and is the owner of Fish N Float Adventures. He divides his time between running Fish N Float and a Field Operations Division for a mid sized company. He specializes in supporting research endeavors in remote locations and his work has taken him from British Columbia to the Amazon. Dan is also a Safety Specialist and conducts training sessions on topics such as chainsaw safety, wildlife awareness, jet boat operation, and tower climbing and rescue systems. He is also authorized by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) to teach one of their college level safety courses.
Dan has a lifelong passion for all types of fishing. He has fished throughout Canada, the United States, and Brazil and specializes in fly-fishing for trout and kayak fishing for anything that swims. He makes annual flyfishing, camping, and kayak trips to Wyoming and New York to test his flyfishing skills on bigger fish. Dan has been flyfishing Maryland waters extensively for the last 16 years, teaching people to flyfish for the last ten years, and tying his own flys for the last 8 years. In the last 6 years he has become an expert at vertical jigging from kayaks by adopting techniques from professional Bass and Walleye anglers and applying them to Maryland lakes. Additionally, Dan has modified various drift fishing and trolling techniques to be applicable to kayak fishing.

In her free time she enjoys backpacking, mountain biking, kayaking, and fishing. She has adapted her Ocean Kayak for various trolling systems and has taken it to waters in New York, Kansas, Virginia, and Wyoming in the last year. Amy has experience with kayaking the open ocean in Virginia and New Zealand, but often spends her time floating the Potomac or on tranquil lakes where she focuses on bass, yellow perch, trout, crappie, and freshwater stripers.
